Symptoms
Some hemorrhoids can develop without symptoms. Symptoms of hemorrhoids can include bleeding, mucous or fecal soiling of undergarments, itching, and occasionally pain. Painful bowel movements are not typically associated with hemorrhoids and are incorrectly called hemorrhoids. The most common symptoms of internal hemorrhoids are bright red blood covering the stools, toilet paper, or toilet bowl. A painful protruding hemorrhoid that protudes outside of the body through the anus may also result. External hemorrhoids can be characterized by painful swelling or formation of a hard lump around the anus.
