Symptoms of Graves’ disease include:
- Quick heart rate
- Excess perspiration
- Weight loss
- Anxiety and nervousness
- Eyes that protrude from the sockets (present in approximately half of Graves’ sufferers)
Some people with Graves’ disease may experience weakness in their thigh muscles when climbing stairs. Others notice enlarged thyroids (called goiters), which pop out a bit from the neck. In those with eye symptoms, the lid may not close completely around the eye, giving the appearance of protruding eyes. Eye dryness and irritation are also common symptoms.
