Incontinence

What You Can Do

Ethicon - Incontinence
Lots of women with sudden urine loss have never discussed her condition with her doctor, even more surprising is the idea that many women believe that there is no help available. Yet many cases of female sudden urine loss are treatable or even curable!
Learn about your options. While sudden urine loss is frequently treatable, not all approaches will work for every person or every type of incontinence. Click here to learn more about your treatment options.

A Daily Bladder Diary
If you think you may be suffering from sudden urine loss, here is a tool to help you track your bladder patterns and provide a discussion point for you and your doctor on the condition. By completing the diary you will be able to provide your doctor with a daily record that includes timing (i.e. morning), frequency (i.e. four times in one day), and type (i.e. accidental leaks).

To obtain a pattern, it is recommended that you track this information for 3 to 4 continuous weeks. To access your diary, click here.

Talking to Your Doctor
Speaking openly to your doctor or other healthcare provider about your sudden urine loss is the key to discovering these options and regaining the full, active lifestyle you once had.
After discussing your medical history and urinary symptoms with you, your doctor will probably examine you, order a urine test and possibly suggest other tests.
Before diagnosing urinary incontinence, your doctor will rule out any temporary, reversible causes for urine loss, such as a urinary tract infection or certain medications you are taking. If you are diagnosed with urinary incontinence, your doctor will discuss the type and cause of your incontinence with you.

With your help, he or she can determine the type and cause of your incontinence, which is the first step toward finding the best treatment for you.
